Sampdoria are emerging as the new favourites to sign Juventus defender Daniele Rugani, ahead of Galatasaray, Empoli and Hellas Verona.

The centre-back does not appear to be in coach Max Allegri’s plans and has been told to find himself another club, having been replaced by summer signing Federico Gatti.

According to Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà, Sampdoria are prepared to take Rugani on loan with option to buy and would pay €1.5m of his salary.

That is more than Empoli and Verona would be ready to cover during the loan period.

Juventus would prefer to sell Rugani outright to Galatasaray, but the player is not convinced at the idea of moving to Turkey.

The asking price for a sale would be in the region of €10m for the 28-year-old centre-back.

His contract with Juve runs to June 2024, so a loan with option to buy is still feasible.

Rugani has seven senior caps for Italy, but last season made only 18 competitive appearances for the Bianconeri, 12 of them in the starting XI.
