Sampdoria midfielder Albin Ekdal’s agent Martin Klette confirmed the Sweden international's contract with the Blucerchiati was renewed until June 2022.
The 31-year-old has played all 15 games in Serie A so far this term and has been rewarded with a new deal in Liguria.
“The club has activated the option for his extension until 2022, so Albin will remain at Sampdoria next season as well,” his agent, Klette, told Expressen.

Ekdal moved to Sampdoria from Hamburger SV for a reported transfer fee of €2.6m in August 2018 and has previously played for Juventus, Siena, Bologna and Cagliari in Italy.
He moved to Juventus in July 2008 from Swedish side Brommapojkarna.
