According to Sky Sport Italia, Sampdoria are considering their third coach of the season, as Dejan Stankovic could make way for Claudio Ranieri.

The Blucerchiati are in penultimate place with only six points after their fourth consecutive Serie A defeat, falling 2-0 at home to Lecce.

Fans were furious and tried to block the exit to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, also known as Marassi, to keep the squad and directors inside.

Tension is sky high and Stankovic looked distraught in the stands, where he was sitting out a touchline ban.

Now Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Sampdoria chiefs are ready to throw in the towel for Stankovic and try once again for Ranieri.

It’s unlikely to succeed, seeing as Ranieri already turned them down when Marco Giampaolo was fired just over a month ago.

Stankovic was appointed on October 6 and has overseen two wins, a draw and five defeats between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

Ranieri is no stranger to Sampdoria, as the 71-year-old was already on the bench from October 2019 to June 2021.

The veteran is currently out of work, having been sacked by Watford in January.
