Sampdoria’s title winners are remembered for their entertaining and charming football, beating Inter, Milan, Juventus and reigning champions Napoli on their way to the title.

Sampdoria ended as runners-up in the Coppa Italia and the European Super Cup the same year, and were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the European Cup Winners’ Cup.
