Sampdoria and Cremonese fans clash before relegation dogfight

There are reports of some violent clashes between Sampdoria and Cremonese ultras outside the Stadio Luigi Ferraris several hours before their relegation dogfight.

It is due to kick off at 14.30 UK time (13.30 GMT).

You can follow all the build-up and action as it happens from today’s seven Serie A games on the LIVEBLOG.

This is a crucial head-to-head between the bottom two, although it will take something extraordinary at this stage for either of them to avoid relegation.

According to initial reports, a group of Cremonese ultras arrived very early and ambushed some Sampdoria supporters who were heading towards the Gradinata Sud entrance.

Different sources point to Cremonese fans parking their car circa 500 metres from the stadium and completing the journey on foot, crossing paths with their rivals.

At least one person has been transported to hospital with head trauma and circa 40 were involved in the clashes.

Cremonese sold 892 tickets for the away section at Marassi, which is played just days after a Coppa Italia semi-final defeat to Fiorentina.

Sampdoria have 15 points from 28 rounds, while Cremonese are rock bottom on just 13, having won only one game.
