Carlo Osti has made clear that Sampdoria do not intend to sell Manolo Gabbiadini, Stefano Okaka or any first team player in January.

Speculation has been that some clubs are circling Okaka’s contract situation and preparing mid-season bids for him, and others are looking at teammate Gabbiadini.

However, the club’s sporting director has clarified that the Blucerchiati aren’t planning on their exits.

“I am glad that I took Okaka from Parma last January,” Osti began on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli today.

“We have always believed in him, then, he has been able to fully exploit the opportunities that have been afforded.

“The real market says that none of our champions will move from Genoa. Sampdoria do not intend to weaken themselves, and will remain as they are.

“If we want to achieve certain goals, we cannot sell anyone. In football is it true that you can never say never, but we want to remain on the left-hand side of the table [top half].”

Samp currently sit fourth in the standings, despite only the one win from their last six matches.

“Sampdoria this year have a very balanced team, we always look towards goal, and it was too bad that on Sunday at Cesena we lacked a bit of lucidity.

“But, we cannot complain about our position in the table. The departments are solid, we defend well and counter-attack well. Let’s say that this year we have begun on the right foot.

“Monday night against Napoli will be a good game, the spotlight needs to be aimed at Marassi. Two teams who want to win will face each other, I don’t expect too many tactics, both teams will want to win.

“But, every game is a different story, I just hope that we have digested the draw with Cesena.”
