Empoli coach Alessio Dionisi is wanted by Sampdoria to replace Claudio Ranieri, but the Blucerchiati must free him from his contract with the newly promoted side.
The coach who brought Empoli back to the top flight met with the club today to discuss his own future, as he has one year left on the deal at the Stadio Carlo Castellani.
Sampdoria are looking for a new coach after parting ways with Ranieri two weeks ago and have targeted Dionisi after his success at Empoli.
The Azzurri met with the coach today and Sky Sport Italia claims Sampdoria will make a move for the tactician in the coming days.
But Massimo Ferrero will have to negotiate with Empoli to free him from his current contract and the broadcaster believes it will be a complicated operation.
Empoli seem prepared to fight for Dionisi’s future after they won Serie B in 2020-21, repeating the feat from 2004-05 and 2017-18.
