According to ANSA, Samp have been made to act after Giampaolo’s comments following their 3-3 draw with Parma on Sunday, threatening to leave the club if they did not invest.

The agency claims the Blucerchiati particularly like Eusebio Di Francesco, but the ex-Roma boss will not come cheap.

Therefore, the ‘No 1 candidate’ would be Pioli, who is currently out of work after leaving Fiorentina last month.

The 53-year-old is vastly experienced at Serie A level, having also coached the likes of Bologna, Lazio and Inter in the top tier.

ANSA adds Samp are also looking at Bologna old boy Roberto Donadoni and SPAL’s Leonardo Semplici.
