Sampdoria’s Europa League campaign is a shambles, but director Carlo Osti warned players must “spit blood” against Vojvodina.
The 4-0 first leg home defeat in the Third Preliminary Round means qualification is practically impossible, but they still need to play in Novi Sad next Thursday.
“We got back to training this morning and it looks to me as if the team reacted very well. They trained with good intensity and we are all concentrated on the second leg,” Osti told the club’s official YouTube channel.

“From now until Thursday I think it’s important to work more than talk. I am convinced the team will put in a great performance with character and technical quality.
“We’ll see the real Sampdoria, the team that knows how to spit blood and fight for every ball. We’ll leave the field with shirts drenched in sweat.
“I am certain we’ll see a completely different Samp. They have to bring out that pride from within.”
Another embarrassing setback could well see Coach Walter Zenga fired before the season proper has even begun.
There are already reports that Gigi Del Neri is a candidate to take over.
