Sampdoria have reportedly made moves for ex-Roma boss Claudio Ranieri and former Italy Under-21 CT Luigi Di Biagio.
Samp have been forced to look elsewhere after Gennaro Gattuso rejected their advances.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, owner Massimo Ferrero held talks with Ranieri – his first choice – and Di Biagio last night.
It comes after, as per the newspaper, Gianni De Biasi failed to fully win over the club’s board.

Calciomercato.com, meanwhile, is putting out a similar line, that the Di Biagio has emerged as an alternatives to the likes of Ranieri, De Biasi, Rudi Garcia and Beppe Iachini.
The 48-year-old made over 500 appearances as a player for the likes of Roma, Inter and Italy.
He went on to coach Italy’s U20 and U21 teams, as well as a stint as caretaker of the senior side, but was particularly criticised for underachieving with the Azzurrini.
