Sampdoria fuelled reports of Antonio Cassano’s return with a cryptic birthday greeting on Twitter.

Today FantAntonio turns 32 and Samp posted a picture of him in the Blucerchiati shirt on their official Twitter account.

“It is human to love and even more human to forgive. Happy birthday FantAntonio Cassano.”

The comment was a reference to Cassano’s extremely bitter exit from the club in October 2010, sparked by an expletive-filled tirade at then-President Riccardo Garrone.

He was frozen out of the side, his wages stopped and sent to Milan in January 2011.

The last six months have seen repeated rumours of Cassano wanting a return to Sampdoria despite a successful campaign at Parma.

Roberto Donadoni confirmed Cassano had pushed for a transfer in the January window, but that it had all been resolved.

This birthday tweet suggests Samp are willing to give him another chance and could resume talks with Parma.

The club is no longer under the Garrone family’s control, as new President Massimo Ferrero took over last month.

Nonetheless, Samp had already forgiven Cassano, as he publicly made up with Garrone before the President's death in January 2013.
