Sampdoria are looking at Napoli winger Simone Verdi as an alternative to Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi for a much cheaper €20m.

The Blucerchiati have brought in new Coach Eusebio Di Francesco and are trying to rebuild the squad in the form of his 4-3-3 tactics.

According to Il Secolo XIX newspaper, Berardi is the first choice, but Sassuolo are asking for €40m.

Instead, Verdi would be on the market and Napoli could be prepared to sell for €20m.

The former Bologna man made no impact at the Stadio San Paolo with four goals and three assists in 24 competitive games for Napoli, but many of those were off the bench.

He cost €24.5m only a year ago, having rejected a January 2018 switch.
