The Blucerchiati sacked Coach Walter Zenga this morning and have set their sights firmly on Montella as his replacement.
However, L’Aeroplanino is under contract with the Viola until June 2017 and has a €5m release clause.
Despite sacking Montella over the summer, Fiorentina made it clear they want the contract “to be respected.”
According to multiple reports, the Tuscan club will accept €3m rather than €5m.
This evening Samp President Ferrero and Fiorentina President Cognini are in a summit to discuss the Montella situation.
It would be a return to Marassi for Montella, who played for Sampdoria from 1996 to 1999, then again in 2007-08.
