Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero insists he wants Claudio Ranieri and Fabio Quagliarella to stay at the club for one more season.

Both the coach and the striker will see their contract expire at the end of the season.

“Ranieri is my coach and I want to keep hold of him. I respect him because he is a great man, there are no problems between us,” the Sampdoria coach told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“We are on good terms, and I haven’t contacted other coaches. I want to build an excellent team. I had lunch with Ranieri after the game against Torino, I will see him again today, and I’ll hug him.

“The same goes for Quagliarella. I told him that he’d stay here as long as I’ll be the Sampdoria President,” Ferrero continued.

“Maybe we can reach an agreement if he gives me a discount and adding bonuses to the deal. He is an excellent person.

“I call him every year asking him: ‘Can you continue?’, he always responds: ‘Yes, so there are no problems. I am sure there won’t be an issue.”
