The Blucerchiati were forced to make three substitutions due to physical problems during the 0-0 draw this afternoon and a fourth player had to carry on with a swollen eye.

“More than a report on the match, it reads like a casualty list,” read the statement on the official club website.

“Stefano Lucchini clashed with Amauri in the opening minutes and suffered a facial fracture. Once substituted, he was taken to the Montallegro clinic, where medics are evaluating surgery.

“Giampaolo Pazzini is dealing with a sprained left ankle, Nicola Pozzi a muscular problem close to his right knee and Massimo Volta a heavy bruise to his left cheekbone.”

There were fears Volta had also fractured the cheekbone, as his face and eye were very swollen, but as all the substitutions had been completed, he carried on to the final whistle.

Juventus also had problems, as they saw Armand Traore' limp off in the opening two minutes with a muscular problem.
