Milan are in the early stages of setting up a deal for midfield ace Lazar Samardzic, in close contact with Udinese.

The Rossoneri have been on the hunt for midfield reinforcements for Paulo Fonseca’s new project but have hit a serious roadblock in their chase of Youssouf Fofana after Monaco decided to raise the price amidst interest from Manchester United and Atletico Madrid.

Samardzic has been at the centre of chaos in the transfer market for the last two windows, being close to moves to Inter, Napoli and Juventus over the last year. With two years left on his contract at Udinese, a departure this summer is looking increasingly likely.

Milan push for Samardzic

Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com details how Milan have opened talks with Udinese to start seriously negotiating a deal for Samardzic, learning his €25m price tag.

Since learning of their interest, the 22-year-old midfielder has started pushing for a move to the Rossoneri, not wanting to lose out on the opportunity once again. He has already declined offers from Lazio and Fenerbahce as he looks to compete in the Champions League.

Milan have already been in contact with Samardzic’s father and agents, making positive progress on the salary and commissions. Before a deal can be completed, the club have to sell either Yacine Adli or Ismael Bennacer.
