The Lazar Samardzic move has taken another dramatic twist, as the player has left Milan, Inter are refusing to have another meeting and now detach the Giovanni Fabbian switch to Udinese.

It had seemed to be a completely done deal for weeks, with everything resolved as Samardzic would come to Inter in exchange for €15m cash plus midfielder Fabbian.

The Nerazzurri would also retain a buy-back clause on Fabbian set at €12m next summer and €15m in 2025.

Everything ground to a halt after Samardzic had completed his medical this week, because his father and more members of the family’s entourage arrived in Milan and suddenly demanded more commissions and a higher salary.

There is a great deal of confusion, as while some sources claim Rafaela Pimenta negotiated the entire transfer only to be supplanted by Samardzic’s father, others insist she was never formally hired and was only doing them a favour.

Whatever the truth of the matter, the fact remains Inter are refusing to budge on the terms that were agreed and continue to reject attempts from Samardzic’s family to set up another meeting, as they are confident the deal was clinched.

Sky Sport Italia report this evening that Samardzic has returned to Udine after a week in Milan, which suggests the move is on the verge of collapse.

It now seems likely that Fabbian will still go to Udinese, but that will be separate from Samardzic.

West Ham United, Milan, Napoli and Juventus had also shown an interest in the Serbia international, who is valued at €25m.

  1. This deal is suspicious all round. Who is this Fabbian who is apparently worth €10m – has he ever played in serie a?
