Sampdoria are on the verge of signing ex-West Bromwich Albion and Celtic striker Georgios Samaras.

Still only 30 years old, the Greek international is a free agent after his contract with West Brom was terminated by mutual consent.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Samp director of sport Carlo Osti is currently working out the final details with his entourage.

Samaras could well be in Italy by Friday or over the weekend to complete his medical.

Samaras is nothing if not experienced, having played for the likes of Heerenveen, Manchester City, Celtic, West Brom and Saudi club Hilal.
