The former Deputy Prime Minister was in the stands at San Siro to watch Marcelo Brozovic and Romelu Lukaku decide the Derby della Madonnina.
“This is the first time I’ve left the stadium early during a derby,” he told Telelombardia. “I decided I’d had enough when Lucas Biglia hit that free kick into the Curva Sud.
“Ricardo Rodriguez is awful, Suso hasn’t performed for a long time… The club? Where is the club? The only positive I saw tonight was Rafael Leao and he was substituted."
Salvini also seemed to take aim at Paolo Maldini and Zvonimir Boban, along with owners Elliott Management.
“The stadium and business are all well and good, but how many times now have we been left with disappointing transfer campaigns? Is it really automatic that great players then become great directors? If your owners are a hedge fund, then at the end of the day you are just a number on a computer…
“I applaud all the Milan fans, because for years they are the only ones worth saving, as this team is laughable! I was always blaming Gattuso, but maybe I’m starting to think it wasn’t all his fault. Maybe it’s not the Coach who can change things.
“There are people who are paid to win and they don’t win.”
Salvini and his Lega Nord party are also lodging an attempt to have the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza considered a UNESCO world heritage site, which would prevent it being knocked down to make way for a new arena.
