Salernitana have announced Frederic Veseli has tested positive for coronavirus after returning from international duty with Albania.

The centre-back, capped 38 times by Albania, carried out a molecular test at home upon his return from international duty.

The 28-year-old has yet to play in Serie A with the Granata this term but will now be forced to miss the upcoming games due to coronavirus.

“US Salernitana announce that footballer Frederic Veseli tested positive for the molecular swab carried out at home,” the club wrote in a statement. “The defender joins a long list of absentees.

“He has never been in contact with the rest of the team but was returning from his commitments with the Albanian national team.”
