Time is rapidly running out for Salernitana to find a new owner, as the club confirmed none of the offers so far received have been suitable, so Lazio chief Claudio Lotito remains at the helm.

It is against the rules for two clubs owned by the same person to compete in a single Italian division.

So when Lotito took Salernitana from bankruptcy and Serie D through to the top flight over the summer, he had to sell up.

With no proposals ready, Lotito instead was forced to put the club into a blind trust, handing over the running of Salernitana to unconnected third parties who would also try to find a new owner.

A statement released this evening confirmed that none of the offers received so far have been considered suitable, as they lacked documentation, requirements or financial stability.

The Trustees therefore postponed the deadline to receive new proposals to December 5.

The deadline to accept an offer and sell the club is currently December 15.

  1. Serie A should have 16 clubs at the most. The rest is a waste of money and resources. With International and Cup fixtures if would take stress off of players with less matches. And keep the these issues from becoming a problem. I wish there were more southern Italian Teams in Serie A. But it is what is.

  2. Poor mancini already doesn’t have much to pick from now never mind if they reduce the number of clubs.

  3. It’s unfortunate they didn’t have a fair chance to compete to stay in Serie A, was hoping things would be settled for the January transfer window but clearly it won’t.
