Salernitana announce they have provided the paperwork requested by the FIGC, but it remains to be seen if it’ll be enough to allow their registration for the 2021-22 Serie A season.

The club earned promotion from Serie B by finishing second behind Empoli, while Venezia won the promotion play-offs.

However, Salernitana had to either sell the club or put it into a blind trust, because their owner Claudio Lotito already runs Lazio.

The rules bar a single person or company from running two clubs in the same division.

Salernitana had originally set up a blind trust, but this was considered unsatisfactory by the Federation, because those in charge were by old friends and colleagues of Lotito.

They had until this evening to provide updated paperwork or risk being excluded from the Serie A season.

A statement from Salernitana this evening noted they had provided the requested documentation by the deadline.

We will have to see if the steps taken are sufficient to allow their registration, as Benevento have already lodged a request to take their spot instead.

A decision will be made on July 7.
