Salernitana are reportedly in negotiations for a takeover by Brera Holdings, who already have a small stake in Manchester United.
The club is forced to reassess its finances following relegation from Serie A, where they finished rock bottom this season.
Patron Danilo Iervolino had taken over from Lazio President Claudio Lotito in January 2022.
Salernitana up for sale
According to Sky Sport Italia, Iervolino is in talks to sell Salernitana to Brera Holdings, who have bases in both Milan and Dublin.
This company already has some investments in football clubs, albeit so far largely in Macedonia, Mongolia and Mozambique, but they also have a small stake in Manchester United.
They are also expanding their global portfolio with women’s volleyball teams as well as men’s football clubs.
Salernitana had been in Serie A for three consecutive campaigns before their relegation, but went bankrupt in the summer of 2011, which is when Lotito took over to rebuild.
Lotito was forced to sell in December 2021 because it is against the rules for one owner to have two clubs in the same division.
