Salernitana are in advanced negotiations for Blackburn Rovers centre-forward Ben Brereton-Diaz.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, new Salernitana director of sport Morgan De Sanctis is currently in London to finalise the details of the move.

Born in England and playing for England at Under-19 and Under-20 level before switching international allegiance to Chile in 2021, he already has four goals in 14 caps.

The 23-year-old joined Blackburn from Nottingham Forest initially on loan in 2018 and then completed the €8.3m switch in January 2019.

Brereton-Diaz also spent time in the Manchester United and Stoke youth academies.

This season he made a big impression in the Championship for Blackburn Rovers, scoring 22 goals in 36 games.

He is available because his contract only runs to June 2023, but the asking price is still in the region of €20m.

Other clubs who have been linked with Brereton-Diaz include Leeds United, Everton, Bournemouth, Eintracht Frankfurt and Olympique Lyonnais.
