Salernitana deny interest in David Luiz

Salernitana sporting director Angelo Fabiani denies interest in David Luiz: ‘Our transfer window is closed with the signing of Franck Ribery.’

The Bayern Munich legend has signed a one-year with the newly-promoted Serie A side and was unveiled at a press conference today.

The club’s sporting director Fabiani spoke before the former France international, denying reports that David Luiz will follow Ribery in Salerno.

“I’d like to thank Franck’s agent Davide Lippi because he made him understand what playing for Salernitana means,” Fabiani said.

“With Ribery, our transfer window is over, we’ve told each other that we’ve done enough. Ribery is our last signing, we’ve signed some excellent players.”

Former Chelsea and Arsenal defender David Luiz had been linked with a move to Salernitana, but the Granata made it clear that Ribery will be their last signing this summer.

David Luiz also played down reports of a potential move to Salernitana with an Instagram story.

“Every day a different fake news,” he wrote.

“It’s up to us to choose what we want to believe.”

David Luiz, 34, saw his Arsenal contract expire this past June so he is currently available as a free agent.
