Salernitana confirm they have secured Krzysztof Piatek on loan from Hertha Berlin with an option to buy. ‘Now we are complete.’

There were already reports this morning that a deal had been done, which allows Hertha Berlin to pay up to 60 per cent of the striker’s salary during the loan spell.

The option to buy is expected to be set at €7-8m and he can have his medical on transfer deadline day.

It is a return to Serie A for Piatek, who played for Genoa and Milan before last season’s six-month loan at Fiorentina, where he scored six goals in 18 competitive games.

“We are satisfied to have built a fine team, as while we had all roles covered, these latest additions will give us another step up in quality,” said CEO Maurizio Milan.

“Now Salernitana really are complete and over the next 24 hours we’ll make Piatek’s arrival official too.”

Salernitana have had a strong start to the season, holding Udinese 0-0 and then thrashing Sampdoria 4-0 at the Stadio Arechi.

They have a large group of strikers available now, including Boulaye Dia, Federico Bonazzoli and Erik Botheim.
