Mohamed Salah was the undisputed Man of The Match in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Bologna on Wednesday and was described as ‘a gem’ by Corriere dello Sport.

Former Roma and Fiorentina star Salah inspired Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Bologna on Wednesday with one assist and one goal.

The experienced winger was UEFA’s Man of the Match last night, and Italian newspapers inevitably agreed with the verdict on Thursday morning.

Salah was rated 7/10 by Gazzetta dello Sport and 7.5/10 by Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport.

Corriere dello Sport, on page nine, described Salah as “a gem”, adding that his talent “immediately emerged” against the Rossoblu at Anfield last night.

Gazzetta said that Salah’s curler, which doubled Liverpool’s lead in the second half, was ” a jewel” and that the 32-year-old was “a true phenomenon.”

His goal against Bologna also means Salah is now the best African scorer in the Champions League.

According to Gazzetta, Remo Freuler and Dan Ndoye were among the best Bologna players at Anfield, while Riccardo Orsolini failed to impress, receiving a 5/10 rating.

Bologna have one point in the opening two Champions League matches and will visit Aston Villa in the next Champions League fixture on October 22.
