In a bizarre twist, Saphir Taider will leave Southampton just three weeks into his loan from Inter and join Sassuolo instead.

The Algeria international midfielder arrived on a one-season loan on August 6 with option to make the move permanent.

It was negotiated along with Daniel Osvaldo’s switch to Inter, but the two transfers were not tied together.

This is good news for the Nerazzurri, as Southampton have incredibly decided they don’t want to keep Taider for even a full month.

According to The Guardian and Tuttosport, manager Ronald Koeman doesn’t want the 22-year-old and will send him back to Italy.

He was an unused substitute in all three Saints games so far and reportedly did not impress staff with his form or work ethic.

Taider is expected to join Sassuolo on loan for this season.

Meanwhile, Inter have officially loaned defender Matias Silvestre to Sampdoria.
