Anthony Mounier could return to Serie A for Atalanta or Crotone just days after Bologna loaned him to Saint-Etienne after a fan revolt.
The attacking midfielder only made the loan move on Friday, but was immediately greeted by protests and angry banners noting “our colours will never be yours.”
It stretches back to an interview Mounier gave some time ago confirming he supported their rivals Olympique Lyonnais and refused to wear a green shirt, as it was the colour representing Saint-Etienne.

“I asked the President to meet with the fans so I can explain the situation. I made mistakes in my youth,” assured 29-year-old Mounier.
However, he was left out of the line-up against Toulouse yesterday because Coach Christophe Galtier noted “the context is not conducive to his integration. We will wait and see what happens.”
If he had played, Mounier would be tied down and forced to remain for six months, whereas in the current circumstances he could move on.
L’Equipe and Sky Sport Italia now suggest Mounier could be sent back to Italy straight away with a loan to Atalanta or Crotone.
