Leicester City have made an offer for Alexis Saelemaekers, claim reports in Italy, and are not at all far away from the Milan asking price, so could give up on Matias Soule of Juventus.

The Belgium international returned to base following a loan spell with Bologna, where he scored four goals and provided three assists in 32 competitive games.

They had been expected to make the move permanent, but decided against it after the change of coach to Vincenzo Italiano.

Leicester City close on Saelemaekers

According to Sportitalia transfer pundit Gianluigi Longari, Leicester City have now made a bid for Saelemaekers and it is already very close to the demands made by Milan.

Negotiations are progressing to whittle down the frankly minor differences between their positions.

It will then be up to Leicester City to convince the 25-year-old to make the move to England.

Saelemaekers is a right-sided winger, just like Soule, so this means Leicester might be ready to go all in for the Belgian rather than the Argentine, who costs more than twice as much and is also linked with Roma.

Milan purchased the Belgian from RSC Anderlecht for a total €10.9m in 2020 on a contract that expires in June 2026.

They are asking for more or less the same sum, and he had also been linked with Atalanta.

He had flashes of brilliance, scoring 10 goals and providing 14 assists in 140 competitive games, but very little consistency.
