He came on for Davide Calabria and played at right-back for the last 15 minutes and claimed he could play both in defence and in attack.
“I came on at right-back. It’s a position I can play,” he added. “I am solid defensively and I’m good at stealing the ball of the opponent, but I’m also good going forward.
“I like to play very lively, without thinking too much. I try to do my best all the time, to help the team and the club.”
After moving to Milan, he has been in contact with some of the legends of the past and the current heroes, saying it’s an “incredible experience”.
“I was face to face with some great people, [Zvonimir] Boban and [Paolo] Maldini,” he added. “It was an incredible experience. They are players I always admired. It’s a dream come true.
“And of course, there’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic. I saw him in interviews on TV and now he’s in the same dressing room as me. It’s really special. It stimulates me to work even harder to prove myself.
“Like I said, I’m proud to be here, my objectives are clear. I want to help the team to the best of my ability. We need to climb the table and I hope to be an important part of this team.”
Saelemaekers has picked No56 and revealed he felt it’s a “lucky number” for him.
“I chose 56 because it was the first number I had when I became a professional,” he said. “I decided to keep it, because I felt it was a lucky number and I would like to keep it going forward too.”
