Theo Hernandez and Yacine Adli shared their support for Paolo Maldini following the former defender’s dismissal from Milan.

The technical director was dismissed by owner Gerry Cardinale on Monday following a short but tense meeting, a decision that has kickstarted a storm in the Lombardy capital. Fans have been quick to express their anger at the move and the hashtag #CardinaleOut soon gathered steam on social media.

Maldini played a vital role in Milan’s recent resurgence, bringing in stars like Rafael Leao, Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez. Recent media reports have highlighted the squad’s confusion and frustration regarding the decision to dismiss the former defender and his close collaborator Frederic Massara.

Theo Hernandez, who was personally convinced to join Milan by Maldini, shared his support for the former technical director on Twitter today, posting some photos of the pair alongside the caption: “Sad to have to say goodbye to someone who trusted me and helped me become the player I am today. I wish you the best and may life bring us back together SempreMaldini.”

His teammate Adli also paid tribute to Maldini on Instagram, posting a photo of the former defender receiving his ‘Best Manager’ award at the Golden Boy 2022 ceremony.
