Referee Juan Luca Sacchi is at risk of receiving punishment after his poor officiating work in Inter’s 2-2 draw with Monza.

The Nerazzurri came into the match confident after their mid-week win over Napoli, a result that took them into the top four of the table, but they failed to pick up all three points against Silvio Berlusconi’s Monza, being held to a draw.

At one point Inter thought they’d taken a 3-1 lead thanks to Francesco Acerbi, but the goal was chalked off after it became clear that Sacchi had blown his whistle for a non-existent foul before the ball entered the net. A replay later showed that Pablo Mari fell after colliding with teammate Armando Izzo.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Sacchi is now at risk of being suspended following his poor performance. Because he blew his whistle for the non-existent foul, VAR was not able to intervene. Had he waited, things could’ve been checked by the video assistants.
