Former Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi admits he got emotional watching the Rossoneri beat Fiorentina at San Siro yesterday and praises Paolo Maldini and the club, saying that those who win with debts ‘are cheating.’

The Rossoneri remain Serie A leaders with a two-point lead over Inter and three games remaining.

A late Rafael Leao goal helped them take all three points at the Stadio Meazza yesterday. The stadium was sold out and Sacchi was among those watching the game in the stands.

“I got emotional seeing the fans’ enthusiasm yesterday, it dragged the team,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“The players are doing something extraordinary. There is a huge financial gap between Milan and other teams. Inter have more quality and experience, so how can Milan be so competitive?

“They are a collective, they are a team and play an international brand of football. They are doing something incredible, just like Atalanta,” the ex-Rossoneri coach continued.

“The match against Fiorentina was difficult. Inter’s game at Udinese was also tricky. Now Milan have Verona, Atalanta and Sassuolo left. Milan will need two great performances, especially against Verona and Atalanta who force their opponents to play at a very high pace.

“Milan have signed almost unknown players and have halved their debts, so credit to Paolo Maldini and his staff because winning with debts means cheating.”

  1. As a Milan fan of 22 years myself I got goosebumps watching our last 2 games I can only imagine how our next 3 home games will be like (You all know what I mean just look at the Lazio game)……. 22 years when we have seen one of the best Milan sides in the past in the early 00s and we may not able to repeat those European glories due to a more competitive and an EPL league that has vast financial resources, but we can win more domestic titles then that glory Milan side has. Hopefully this is the start of a new successfull era. Will not even be dissapointed no matter what as this site has guts and fought hard until the end Forza Milan regardless the result the fans are proud could not ask for more everyone from the players to the manager to the board and the fans everyone is in sync unlike other serie a giants currently. Only up from here!
