Former Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi said Inter will be the strongest side in Serie A next season.

The Milan clubs have finished in the top two spots in each of the previous two campaigns, with the positions reversed and the Rossoneri coming out on top in 2021-22.

However, Milan have so far only recruited ex-Liverpool forward Divock Origi on a free transfer, while Inter have announced five new signings – three of which are likely first-team players.

Asked by La Gazzetta dello Sport who he thought would be fighting for the title, Sacchi said: “For me Inter are in front. From a technical point of view and in terms of experience, for me, they were also ahead last season.

“But then Milan deservedly won the title but the situation is the same.”

Asked who he considered as second favourite to Inter, Sacchi said: “It’s unlikely Juve will falter two seasons in a row. They have bought players which fit [Massimiliano] Allegri’s style, and this is positive.

“They need to find that battling spirit which has always marked them.”

Finally he was asked specifically where he saw Milan and Sacchi warned his former side their title victory last season was a “minor miracle” and they need to avoid think “they’ve made it.”

He added: “There, fighting for the title. It’s important, though, that they quickly forget the minor miracle they achieved last season and work on trying to improve on the gaps which were clear last season.

“They kick off with the enthusiasm from last season’s title win and this gives a good dose of energy but don’t dare think they’ve made it.”

Sacchi also said he was watching Napoli “with interest” and defended president Aurelio De Laurentiis following criticism from supporters, remining them he had taken the club from the third tier to the Champions League.

  1. Sorry, but how can it be said that any team are stronger than others before a ball has been kicked? Let’s just wait and see, shall we? Oh, and the table actually says that Milan were the strongest team in Italy last year, not Inter. Facts, not conjecture.

  2. Milan have bought ADLI, POBEGA AND ORIGI. At least 2 players are on the way in.
Mian and Inter play very good football and can beat anyone in serie a. when the play against each other the games are very balance. this 2 teams can beat all other big teams home and away witch JUVE cannot. so i think the battle will be very tight between the 2 milanese teams again.

  3. @the truth. U fans dream too much. Accept it, what he said is a fact. All luck was on Milan last season. Milan were destiny for the tittle last season. Miracles from every balls. Milan champion yes. Strongest team in the league they are not. They are already feeling like they ve made it. Leaving the champion league at group stage did Milan a lot of good.

  4. @ yuuu you are very funny. go back and watch inter and Milan match from the last 2 season. inter are always better than them. they were just lucky. and match official are in there favor sometime.

  5. @ The Truth well am sure if ac Milan were in champion league and had that crazy fixture btw January and match , they will end up middle of the table. i just hope madini and pioli will not cry about officiation this coming season

  6. How can a prediction be a fact? He’s talking about the future, Milan are the best team in Italy right now, according to the league table.

  7. @ DB Milan i hope madinini and poli will not start crying about officiation like last season when the result were not coming there way. yes Milan won the league and i congratulate them. they are not the best last season

  8. Milan won the last scudetto by chance and it was a miracle exactly the same way the Italian national team won the Euro!!. We will see this season
    Forza Inter 🖤💙

  9. @always an inter. The only people crying now are inter fans.

Having experienced players does not make a better team. Inter may have better players, but they are not the better team. As evidenced by Milan winning the Championship.

  10. @Takeshaker

    Another room temperate IQ genius.

Most wins, equal least goals conceded, equal least games lost, 16 games unbeaten between 17th January and end of the season, and finished the season with 6 wins on the trot.

I can only guess that your parents dropped you when you were a baby.

  11. @ always an inter

The same way you’re sure Conte’s Inter would’ve finished mid-table if they hadn’t finished last in their Champions League group the year before?

Conte’s Inter won their Scudetto in the exact same way, so shut up already.

  12. Hmmm what I can remember, it was the referee who was crying cause he made a huge mistake and Milan players were cheering him up.
    Also it’s the serie A.
    Everyone complains. Get over it.

  13. Milan may have had some luck but Inter did them a favor towards the end of the season by throwing away games against teams they should have beat. Winning games they were suppose to win is what made Juve serial Scudetto winners year after year. Sacchi can make all the predictions he wants but I wouldn’t trust that prediction if its based solely on new reinforcements. A team’s mental strength and fortitude towards the end of the season is the most valuable resource and there’s no way to know that now. Inter can add whatever reinforcements they like but they have not yet proved the mental frailty they displayed in the later half of the season is gone.

  14. Inter have better stats over Milan other than just finishing a few points shorter. Inter are mad because it was a missed domestic treble opportunity not that they couldn’t win the league. Milan fans trying to compare to when Inter won the league with Conte just shows that Milan are already too comfortable and this season will be a big wake up call.

  15. It will be between Milan, Inter and Juve.

I believe Inter will have internal problem but they simple have to many star players.

I believe Juve will slip somewhat because of Allegeri

I believe Milan will struggle (they will still finish top 4) but lack a top striker, are somewhat inexperienced and still riding the wave (which is understandable) – if Ibra and Giroud and orgi can deliver I believe we can reach the top again. We have the best def and our midfield is getting better and better
