Arrigo Sacchi believes Maurizio Sarri’s Napoli are similar to his great Milan team of the late 80s.

The Rossoneri lifted two European Cups with Sacchi at the helm, as well as the 1988 Scudetto, and the tactician sees similarities with today’s Napoli.

“The style of play makes the difference,” Sacchi explained, speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“The players improve through their commitment and their role in the play and the team. [Lionel] Messi is the best player in the world for Barcelona, but not for Argentina.

“If the atmosphere and injury situation is optimal and they give their all, Napoli can aspire to great things.

“Sarri is a maestro, and he teaches football, so if all the club follows him things will only get better. My Milan was like that, even the kitmen were giving their all.

“I also had a bad start with Milan, but with great players showing a commitment to my style we became champions.”

Sacchi also had high praise for Lorenzo Insigne, who has five goals and three assists in his last seven Serie A games.

“The first time I saw Insigne play, I was enchanted at once. He just needs to understand that he has to play for the team and not for himself, because he’s the purest talent Italy has produced in years.

“[Antonio] Conte wanted him at Juventus.

“Napoli still made mistakes yesterday [in the 4-0 win over Milan] despite the excellent performance, but Sarri will know how to fix them.

“They must keep their feet on the ground, because hard times will come and they have to be united. This Napoli is an orchestra in harmony.”
