Milan defeated third-place rivals Napoli in a 2-0 win at San Siro on Sunday evening. The victory follows on from President Silvio Berlusconi's pre-game comments on Saturday that the Rossoneri have the potential to qualify for the Champions League next year.
Ex-Milan Coach Arrigo Sacchi is impressed by the Milanese mogul's predictions.
“Berlusconi is a prophet,” Sacchi declared to Premium Calcio.
“Before this game, with the loss at Genova and the latest results, nobody would have thought of Milan as a competitor for the third place.
“The Rossoneri, compared to Napoli, we're superior in spirit, in effort, in generosity. They fully deserved the victory.
“In the second half Milan put in an excellent team performance.
“The central defenders did well, as did [Daniele] Bonera, while [Giacomo] Bonaventura and [Riccardo] Montolivo were brilliant."
Sacchi also wished to highlight the importance of Jérémy Menez, whose two goals decided the game.
“And there's Menez, who only makes mistakes when he tracks back. But when he accelerates and attacks the open spaces he's extraordinary.”
