“This derby arrives too early in the season with two teams still looking for their identity,” Sacchi told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Inter had disappointed in pre-season, yet today are top of the table with a 100 per cent record, even if their style of football is not yet convincing.

“Roberto Mancini is the real auteur behind this new Nerazzurri project. He aspires to lead a team that is creative and attacking. The objective is to win and entertain with a sparkling style of football.

“Although Milan seemed stronger in pre-season, now the Nerazzurri have that slight advantage. We can only hope this game will be entertaining, because it’ll be difficult to see sides so early into their projects playing great football.

“Milan will use a 4-3-1-2 system, while Inter will probably go for 4-3-3. We should see Felipe Melo and Ivan Perisic make their debuts, while Mario Balotelli starts on the bench.

“I believe Milan will have the advantage in midfield, but Inter are stronger on the flanks. In my view, team spirit and an aggressive approach will be decisive.

“When a team plays with harmony and a clear idea of what it’s doing, all the protagonists look good. It’s the exact opposite when the style of football is unclear.

“Even Leo Messi, the best player in the world for Barcelona, becomes only a normal figure when he plays for Argentina.

“Unfortunately you cannot buy good ideas or entertaining football. They have to be forged.”
