Former Italy and Milan boss Arrigo Sacchi admits he’d like to coach Liverpool star Mohamed Salah: ‘He is not an absolute star, but…’

La Gazzetta dello Sport asked Sacchi which player he’d like to coach today and the ex-Rossoneri boss picked the Liverpool star.

“I’d go for a player who knows the work ethic, without excesses of protagonism and functional to my ideas,” the 76-year-old said.

“I’ve always looked at the head before feet. Feet can be fixed with training, but not the head. I like Liverpool strikers for the way they play. They run, work for the team and attack the spaces. I’d pick Salah, who may not be an absolute star, but is perfect for how I see strikers.”

Sacchi on Serie A title race: Inter better than Milan

The 30-year-old has recently extended his contract with the Reds where he has scored 156 goals in 253 games.

The Egypt international spent two years and a half in Serie A, playing for Fiorentina and Roma.

He scored 35 goals in 80 Serie A appearances before joining Liverpool in a €42m deal in the summer of 2017.

Salah had been linked with a move to Juventus in the winter transfer window, but his recent contract extension means the striker won’t leave Anfield anytime soon.

His new contract with the Premier League giants runs out in June 2025. Salah has won six trophies in Liverpool, including one Premier League title and one Champions League.
