Director Giovanni Carnevali has revealed he received the congratulations of Arrigo Sacchi after Sassuolo’s win against Athletic Bilbao.
The Neroverdi secured a famous 3-0 victory over the Spanish side in Thursday night’s Europa League group match. It is the club’s first ever season in European competition.
“We are doing well,” Carnevali told Sport Mediaset. “This is our fourth year in Serie A, we have developed all the way to reaching the Europa League, which for us is a dream.

“To do well needs a lot of factors, starting with the ownership, to the President Squinzi who runs the business side of Sassuolo.”
“We want to go as far as possible [in the Europa League]. We do everything with great enthusiasm.”
The official then revealed how the Neroverdi’s performance had caught the eye of Milan coaching legend Sacchi.
“After the win over Athletic Bilbao I got a message from [Arrigo] Sacchi, in which he said it was a just reward for ideas and courage.”
