Milan legend Arrigo Sacchi took aim at Rafael Leao after a stuttering start to this season. ‘I cannot stand those who do not make the most of their talent,’ while revealing advice to Maurizio Sarri and Pep Guardiola.

The now retired coach helped to transform football in the 1980s with his high line and determined pressing approach to the game, taking Milan to win practically every trophy.

He also does not suffer fools gladly and is no fan of current star name Rafael Leao.

“I cannot stand those who do not make the most of their talent,” Sacchi told the Corriere della Sera newspaper.

“That lad has evident quality, but he is not doing as well as he should. In football, you need to use your head for more than just striking the ball.”

Sacchi also revealed he as been handing out advice to some of his colleagues in recent years, though it was not generally heeded.

“The environment makes a big difference for a coach. When Sarri went to Juventus, I told him that was like committing suicide. It was not his culture, it was not his world.”

There is a strong bond also with Guardiola, who is now in charge of Manchester City.

“Guardiola called me in 2009 and asked what did I think about bringing Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Barcelona? I told him the player was excellent, phenomenal, but he was also an Alpha Male, someone with a very strong personality, who would struggle to integrate in a group of nice lads who were brought up through the youth academy.”
