Argentina Coach Alejandro Sabella confirmed he’ll leave after the World Cup Final and wants “the performance of a lifetime” to beat Germany.

The Albiceleste go into their first Final since 1990, kicking off at the Maracanà in Rio de Janeiro at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

“Talking about my future now, on the eve of a game like this, is irrelevant,” said Sabella when asked about his decision to walk away.

“Being world champions is something truly important for the country as well as the players, who sacrificed so much to come this far.

“Becoming champions on Brazilian soil would make us even prouder. This is a match where I don’t need to motivate the players. They can do that themselves.”

Germany have knocked Argentina out of the last two World Cups and beat them in that 1990 Final.

“We are a much more defensively solid team than four years ago,” assured the Coach. “I always talk about the importance of the midfield in that.

“We need the perfect performance, occupying the space and not lose the ball in the riskiest places. Germany have a well-organised and elaborate system. This requires humility, pride and sacrifice to win this Final. We’ll give everything for our country and for ourselves so that Argentina can become champions.

“It’ll be the performance of a lifetime.”

Angel Di Maria is back in training, but might not be fit enough to start a week after his right thigh strain, so he should be on the bench.

Enzo Perez therefore comes in again with Javier Mascherano and Lazio’s” data-scaytid=”13″>Lazio’s Lucas Biglia, while Sergio Aguero is also unlikely to be in the initial XI.

“Every day is fundamental to see how Angel’s condition develops. After the training session I’ll have a better idea of the situation.”
