Sampdoria technical director Walter Sabatini calls Juventus’ signing of Cristiano Ronaldo “lucid madness which will enrich all of Italian football”.

The Ballon d’Or has signed for the Bianconeri in a €100m deal, and the former Roma sporting director believes that can only be good for Italian football.

“It was lucid madness which will enrich all of Italian football and intensify Juve immeasurably,” Sabatini told Corriere dello Sport.

“It took crazy courage just to even think about this deal.”

Ronaldo will be working with Massimiliano Allegri, who Sabatini wanted to bring to Roma.

“I threatened him the other day: ‘since they accuse me of being a good director who has never won anything, I’m going to pull out the contract you signed with Roma’.

“He’s a great Coach and a fine strategist. He once told me: ‘I might sound poor, but I know players’. It’s true, just look at Pjanic as a regista.”
