Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini believes they are ‘paying the price for changes’ after defeat to Sampdoria.

The Giallorossi were beaten 2-1 at the Stadio Marassi on Wednesday and have only picked  up eight points from a possible 15 after a spending spree over the summer.

"Am I anxious about the performance? Every team pays the price for the changes they make and for a game structure that may not yet be fluid,” Sabatini said to Roma’s official TV channel.

"Am I anxious about the performance? Every team pays the price for the changes they make and for a game structure that may not yet be fluid,” Sabatini said to Roma’s official TV channel.

“You have to respect every opponent. In Italy there aren’t any pitches where you can go and have an easy game.

“We have to be mentally strong. We want to excel and we will do because the team is strong.

“One point from the last two games? Certainly we expected a few more points. Results come from the behaviour of the team on the pitch.

“If you take something home having played timid football, you’re made to pay immediately afterwards.

“If we’re able to offer this kind of football, topped off with some quality and technical sophistication, we have no reason to worry.”
