It was a bitter and ill-tempered encounter at the Olimpico with two red cards, arguably prompted by provocation and play-acting, as Immobile and Stefano Sensi were sent off.

“We have problems in defence and had to make three substitutions during the match due to injuries, but the lads showed character and we created a great deal even before the equaliser against a side that invested heavily in the transfer market,” Inzaghi told DAZN and Sky Sport Italia.

“I am satisfied with the point, we put in a great performance. We started well, then conceded a goal the first time that Inter entered our penalty area. That hit our confidence, it took a while to get re-organised.

“We ended up using Marco Parolo as a centre-back and he did a great job, despite playing there twice in four years. He was very intelligent and can always cover any role I ask of him.

"I look over at Inter with Aleksandar Kolarov and Danilo D'Ambrosio on the bench, and I realise just how well we did in our current circumstances."

The decisive incident saw Immobile brush Vidal with his hand, prompting the red card.

“Immobile knows he was wrong, even if Vidal provoked him and is evidently much sneakier than he is.”

Patric returned the favour, though, by also making the absolute most of a Sensi brush.
