Rumours from England claim that Jose Mourinho contacted Mason Greenwood to discuss a possible loan move to Roma.

The 21-year-old has not played a minute of first team football since January 2022, when he was accused of rape and assault. Videos and images quickly spread on social media and he was dropped by the Red Devils.

On February of this year, charges were dropped against Greenwood, but he still hasn’t returned to the pitch yet, although he was seen training alone at a public sports centre recently.

British tabloid The Sun claims that Mourinho recently contacted Greenwood to explore a possible loan move to Roma.

A source allegedly told the tabloid that “Jose rang Mason’s dad and also spoke with Mason. He told him the best way out of his current situation is to start playing football — and that eventually all the hassle will fade away.”

The Roma coach knows Greenwood well from their time together at Manchester United, having identified him as a top talent when he was 15 years old.

The Englishman is still contracted to the Red Devils until June 2025 but is unlikely to return to the first team.
