Daniele Rugani is not concerned by a lack of playing time at Juventus – “I knew it wouldn’t be easy”.

The defender returned to the Bianconeri from Empoli this summer, but has so far been limited to just once substitute appearance in the Champions League.

“I haven’t played in Serie A, but I have to be calm,” Rugani told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I’ve just started with Juve. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, I just have to be ready.

“Am I lacking in cynicism? I think that’s something people say, just for the sake of saying it. I’m cleaner than some others, but I never shirk a tackle.

“I can do the three roles in a back-three, but if I have to choose then I’d be best at centre-left or centre-right, playing in the middle isn’t for everyone, it’s more difficult.”

Rugani was also asked what can learn from his senior teammates, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Barzagli.

“From Bonucci I’d take his his personality and confidence in playing the ball. From Barzagli, his attention, it’s amazing how he’s focused throughout the game.

“From Chiellini? His decision-making.”
