Daniele Rugani is on the verge of agreeing a new contract with improved salary at Juventus after interest from Chelsea, it’s reported.

The centre-back barely features at club level, but the Bianconeri still refused to release him to his former Empoli Coach Maurizio Sarri over the summer.

According to Sportitalia, negotiations for a new deal have reached a very advanced stage and should be finalised soon.

Rugani currently earns €2m per year including bonuses, but the new contract to June 2023 would be at €2.5m plus almost €1m in performance-related bonuses.

It would also add another two years to the current commitment.
