Ecuador Coach Reinaldo Rueda called for video evidence to be used against Mamadou Sakho for his elbow.

Ecuador Coach Reinaldo Rueda called for video evidence to be used against Mamadou Sakho for his elbow.

The France and Liverpool defender was caught on camera lashing out at Oswaldo Minda during tonight’s 0-0 draw.

“That was shameful and it must be considered by the Disciplinary Committee,” Rueda told journalists.

This result and Switzerland’s 3-0 win over Honduras means Ecuador go out of the World Cup.

“Unfortunately the tournament did not last long for us. We paid the price for the first match against Switzerland and were not effective enough then or tonight with France.”

Antonio Valencia was sent off for a studs-up challenge, something the Coach did not agree with.

“I have great respect for the referees and don’t like to discuss their decisions, even if many of them went against us and against logic.

“There’s no point saying any more. We lost a very important player, but we held out until the end. Each tournament will allow us to gain more experience.”
