Seventh in the Serie A table plays host to ninth this weekend, as Jose Mourinho’s Roma welcome Hellas Verona to the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday. The Giallorossi enter matchday 26 two points behind local rivals Lazio, while the visitors can surely kiss goodbye to any European aspirations with a defeat in the capital.

Roma vs. Verona odds

1 – Both teams to score – 9/13

2 – Roma to win and BTTS – 13/5

3 – Roma to win 3-1 – 14/1

4 – Roma to win and over 3.5 goals – 9/2

5 – Verona to win 1-0 – 16/1

Roma have a strong record at home to Verona. I Mastini haven’t beaten the Giallorossi in an away fixture since a 1-0 victory back in 1973, losing on nine of their last 10 visits to the Olimpico. The Gialloblu are actually looking for their third victory in four games against Roma, but both of those two prior wins were on home soil.

Verona have also won three of their last four games ahead of this weekend, but again two of those victories were at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi. Igor Tudor’s side bounced back from a 2-0 defeat at Juventus to thrash Udinese 4-0 last weekend, although their away form has improved of late.

After failing to win any of their first seven Serie A fixtures on the road this term, Verona were victorious on three of their four away days prior to their trip to Turin. This visit to Roma is another tough assignment though, with Mourinho’s side only losing three times at the Olimpico in all competitions so far this season.

Those defeats were against top-four sides Milan, Inter and Juve. Verona are not on that level, so the home win looks the way to go here. The visitors’ recent form suggests they could very well get on the scoresheet though, with both teams scoring in four of the last five meetings between these clubs.

Roma have scored 26 goals in their last nine home wins against the Gialloblu, at an average of 2.9 per game. Verona have scored nine times themselves across those matches, making a 3-1 victory for La Lupa a scoreline to look out for.

Nicolo Zaniolo returns from suspension for the home team, although Mourinho will be without Stephan El Shaarawy and Roger Ibanez due to injury. Leonardo Spinazzola is in the final stages of his recovery from an Achilles injury, but his return will not be rushed.

Verona team news

Youngster Gianluca Frabotta could be available for the visitors following a hamstring injury. If he’s fit and available, that should leave back-up goalkeeper Ivor Pandur as the only absentee for the Gialloblu.
